In the Autumn of 2016, a large quantity of antique crystal chandelier parts were discovered in The Mercers’ Company vaults. The Company called in James Hall from Madson Black to give a professional assessment to all the items found.
After in deep analysis, James concluded that the crystal came from several chandelier types, which have been packed away for safe storage prior to the blitz in World War II.
For just over a year, the Madson Black team of craftsmen devoted themselves to crafting the grand chandelier, restoring existing fixtures and adding a new dish light to create the splendid piece now displayed in the ceremonial entrance.
The newly made chandelier is a wonderful addition to the many treasures at The Mercers’ Company and has transformed the look of the ceremonial entrance significantly.
